ICYMI: Donald Trump Makes Plans to Ban Abortion Nationwide
AUSTIN, Texas – Today, Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa released the following statement following recent reporting that Donald Trump supports a national abortion ban:
“This new report confirms what we have known all along: overturning Roe wasn’t enough for Trump — he and MAGA Republicans won’t stop until they ban abortion nationwide and rip away Texan’s freedoms. Make no mistake: Trump’s cruelty and chaos knows no bounds, and he is hellbent on forcing his extreme, dangerous MAGA agenda on Texas families. The stakes of this election couldn’t be higher – Trump is running to roll back our rights, President Biden and Vice President Harris are running to restore them. Texans know that their freedoms hang in the balance, and that’s why they’ll reject Trump and MAGA Republicans in November.”
After Trump’s Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, new reporting today says Trump has privately admitted to supporting a national abortion ban — all part of his yearslong crusade against women’s reproductive freedom:
Trump has taken pride in his campaign against reproductive freedom saying proudly “I'm the one that got rid of Roe v. Wade.”
Trump has also said “Without me there would be no 6 weeks, 10 weeks, 15 weeks, or whatever is finally agreed to.”
Trump has long supported a nationwide abortion ban, even saying in a speech to his MAGA supporters that “there of course remains a vital role for the federal government in protecting unborn life. And it’s very important.”
Trump and MAGA Republicans want to roll back reproductive freedoms even further. Trump has even gone so far as to call for punishing women who have abortions.
Trump has claimed credit for every extreme abortion ban passed thanks to his work in overturning Roe v. Wade, and said he was ‘proud’ to have terminated abortion rights.
