Working in a Bipartisan Way on Must-Pass FAA Bill is “Unfamiliar Territory” for Ted Cruz
AUSTIN, Texas – A new report in The Hill this morning underscores how Cruz is in “unfamiliar territory” “negotiating… a complex package” with other senators, including Democrats.
One GOP senator said Cruz is “getting a little bit of his own medicine.”
Another GOP senator: “Of course, he’s making a pitch that this is different than all the other times… People are slightly amused”
As Cruz fends off “numerous jokes from colleagues” about his unfamiliarity with working across the aisle on FAA, it’s important to remember how he has obstructed this process:
Just last month, Cruz’s efforts to “speed political VIPs through airport security” was “creating a stumbling block” to and “roiling” the FAA reauthorization.
An airport police rep said it would take resources away from “crime suppression and security” at airports.
Cruz called automatic refunds for canceled flights a “dumb idea,” claiming that “most airline passengers don’t want their money back.”
But “his fellow senators disagree,” and strengthened that provision in the bill.
