Texas Democrats

I want to thank the Texas Democratic Party for holding this ePrimary Poll, giving Democrats new opportunities to become more engaged in this upcoming election. With so much at stake, the next president will have absolutely no margin for error once he or she takes office. George Bush has dug us into a very deep hole, fully intent on passing off the most important challenges of our time to the next president.

I want to be your next president, because I believe I have the depth and breadth of experience necessary to end this war in Iraq responsibly in such a way that brings our troops home and stabilizes the region so we don’t have to send future generations of Americans back. But dealing with the war and other important issues will require a Democratic nominee that can overcome Karl Rove’s manufactured red state/blue state divide. In November of 2008, one of us may win the White House with 51% of the vote, but none of us can govern with only 51% of the vote. It will not get us anywhere in dealing with our health care crisis, our energy crisis, and the fact that middle class people are increasingly in jeopardy.

The Democratic nominee will have to reach out to all areas of the country and reaffirm our common values, because the woman raising two kids in Texas has no different obligations or dreams or aspirations for her kids as a woman in New York. I believe I can be the nominee credible enough to compete in every state on solidly Democratic principles. I ask for your support to repair our standing in the world and restore a truly United States of America of which we can all be proud.
