Although Governor Perry, Senator Hutchison and their fellow Republicans continue their intense partisan attacks against the economic recovery plan, the Governor’s appointees in state agencies and key Republican lawmakers are busily planning to use stimulus funds to erase some of the many failures of Republican rule in Texas – from health care to education funding to highway construction. With as much as $27 billion recovery-dollars at stake for Texas and $17 billion for the state budget alone, Perry continues playing politics with the stimulus plan while looking to his own appointees to clean up his mess.
