Texas Democratic Party: Moving Texas Forward

Below is a statement from Texas Democratic Party Chairman Boyd Richie regarding statements made by Texas Forensic Science Commission Chairman John Bradley at today’s Senate Committee on Criminal Justice hearing on the Forensic Science Commission’s operation:

“It’s obvious the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it comes to Rick Perry’s political appointees.  Perry’s politically motivated cancellation of an essential review of Texas’ forensic science methods threatened the ability of our criminal justice system to work properly for Texans. 

Now, John Bradley is heaping secrecy on top of Perry’s cover-up by calling for the Commission’s investigations to be kept private and out of the public forum.  Because the Forensic Science Commission’s work has been compromised by Rick Perry’s politically-motivated cover-up attempt, it’s crucial that the Commission’s investigations become more transparent – not less.”
