CORTE FEDERAL DECIDE A FAVOR DEL PDT EN CASO DE MAQUINA DE VOTACIÓN

A continuación la declaración del Presidente del Partido Demócrata de Texas Boyd Richie sobre la decisión de un panel Federal Judicial en la demanda por el Partido Demócrata de Texas en contra del Condado de Dallas. El PDT inició ésta demanda porque las maquinas de votación electrónicas usadas por el condado de Dallas fueron programadas de una manera que contaban los votos incorrectamente y el efecto de ese cambio no fue sumidito debidamente al Departamento de Justicia para aprobación bajo la Acta de Derechos de Votación. Es muy probable que esta decisión impacte otros condados que usan maquinas de votación electrónicas que no están programadas para contar votos correctamente. (more…)
FEDERAL COURT RULES IN FAVOR OF TDP IN VOTING MACHINE CASE

Texas Democratic Party Chairman Boyd Richie issued the following statement regarding today’s ruling by a three judge federal panel in the Texas Democratic Party’s suit against Dallas County. The TDP brought this suit because electronic voting machines used in Dallas County were programmed in a way that counted straight ticket votes improperly, and the effect of that change was not properly described and submitted to the Department of Justice for pre-clearance under the Voting Rights Act. It is likely that today’s ruling will impact other counties that use electronic voting machines that are not programmed to count straight ticket votes properly. (more…)
