Pete Sessions to return the money they received from the billionaire brothers Samuel and Charles Wyly, charged in a “massive fraud” offshore accounts scheme in which they reaped over half a billion dollars in profit. Divisive Provisions Of State Law Hinder Real, Comprehensive Immigration Solution
Today, SB 1070 – Arizona’s immigration law – goes into effect, but U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton has blocked some of the law’s more problematic provisions, including the requirement that forced local police to check immigration status. This provision threatened the rights of Hispanic citizens and concerned local law enforcement officials who need to use every available resource to fight crime instead of seeing them diverted to enforce federal immigration law. Hoy, la ley SB 1070 – la ley de Arizona – entra en rigor, pero la Juez Susan Bolton de la Corte de Distrito de EE.UU bloqueo las provisiones más problemáticas de la ley, incluyendo el requisito que forzaría a los policías locales a revisar estatus migratorio. Republicans Funnel Ten Times More Money to Green Party Petition Scheme
Last week, Texas Republicans announced the launch of a new organization, Hispanic Republicans of Texas (HRT), which has a stated purpose of reaching out to Hispanic voters and recruiting Hispanic Republican candidates. A review the HRT’s Contribution and Expenditures Report indicates that the HRT PAC was jump-started by a contribution from “Swift Boat” financier and Rick Perry mega-donor Bob Perry, whose initial $10,000 contribution represented 91% of the money raised in the HRT’s first report in late 2009. Perry and a handful of other major Republican donors are the source of the majority of the $50,800 in contributions HRT has reported since it was formed last September. (more…)
