“El Partido Demócrata de Texas presentó esta demanda porque los Tejanos merecen saber quien presento más de medio millón de dólares para influenciar las elecciones de 2010. Solo hace unos años, Los Republicanos en Texas estuvieron involucrados en el plan de Tom Delay y el TRMPAC para usar, ilegalmente, dinero empresarial para afectar las contiendas en la Cámara de Diputados Estatal. Democrats to Continue Legal Effort to Determine GOP Source of Corporate Funding for Petitions Illegally Contributed to Green Party

Today, the Texas Democratic Party filed a motion with the Texas Supreme Court to dismiss Writ of Mandamus in the case involving the Rick Perry-GOP-Green Party Ballot scandal. TDP Chairman Boyd Richie issued the following statement.

“The Texas Democratic Party filed this lawsuit because Texans deserve to know who secretly spent over half a million dollars to influence the 2010 elections.  Just a few years ago, Republicans in Texas engaged in the Tom DeLay TRMPAC scheme to illegally use corporate money to affect State House races.  Now, it appears that Republicans have again used corporate money from a secret donor to improperly influence Texas elections. Perry Also Failed to Report Rental Income from House He Claimed as Residential Homestead While Living in Rental Mansion

Last Friday, Texas Democratic Party Executive Director Ruben Hernandez filed two complaints with the Texas Ethics Commission (TEC) regarding Rick Perry’s failure to properly report required information on his personal financial statements in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Perry failed to report the identity of the person who had an interest and to whom he paid notes on a house he bought in College Station, Texas in April, 2007. Perry also failed to report rental income on the house on his 2007 and 2008 PFS. (more…)
