Dear Texas Democrats:

It is clear that Texans are ready for change, and I have the experience to bring about change in Washington. I am proud to have the support of elected officials and community leaders across Texas -- including Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Congressmen Henry Cuellar and Ruben Hinojosa -- and I am asking for your help and support.

I have fought tirelessly on the issues that matter and I have a vision to get America back on track.

As Senator, I have worked to extend coverage to the uninsured children and to end discrimination by insurance companies against people with mental health and substance abuse problems. As President, I will ensure that every single American has quality, affordable health coverage by lowering costs, improving quality, and insuring everyone.

Providing high quality education will also be a priority of my Administration. I will continue to advocate for universal pre-Kindergarten so that every child starts school ready to learn and will significantly reform No Child Left Behind, including providing the resources necessary for our children to succeed. We must also ensure that the door to higher education is open to all Americans, not just the privileged few, by making college affordable and accessible.

My Administration will make the growth of the American workforce a key priority by protecting the right of workers to organize and bargain collectively. To grow our economy and create good jobs, we also must have a comprehensive energy policy that reduces our dependence on foreign oil and invests in alternative energy sources.

Finally, if President Bush does not end the war in Iraq, I will. As President, I will also restore our nation’s standing in the world to promote our interests, ensure our security, and advance our values.

My campaign is about fighting for the rights of working families and fulfilling the promise that tomorrow will be better than today. Although the fight will not be an easy one, we know that our country is ready for change. Together, we can bring about that change and take back the White House in 2008.
