Members of the State Board of Education (SBOE) work in conjunction with the Texas Commissioner of Education to set goals and standards for educational programs in our state’s public schools, oversee the investment of the Permanent School Fund, approve the creation of charter schools, and adopt regulations and standards for the operation of adult education programs provided by public school districts, junior colleges and universities.
