The Twelve Days of Cornyn: Partisanship and Demagoguery

Twelve Days of Cornyn

On the 1st Day of Christmas, John Cornyn Gave to me...

 PARTISANSHIP AND DEMAGOGUERY

Last Christmas you were probably hoping that Senator John Cornyn and his Republican colleagues would transition maturely into their new role as the minority party in Washington, D.C., and work alongside Democrats to forge ahead on key issues like healthcare and ethics.  By now you're probably just wishing you'd gotten a lump of coal instead.  At least it's something.

Instead, on everything from SCHIP to Alberto Gonzales, vocal Republicans, led by Senator John Cornyn, have tried to delay much-needed reforms, whining how Washington had become too "hyperpartisan."

Well, that's tough when you're part of the problem.  Congressional Quarterly rated Cornyn the most partisan U.S. Senator, based on his votes-those are things he casts in D.C. that you rarely hear about because they're usually really, really bad.  In fact, Cornyn topped the naughty list for voting with his Republican Party leaders an astounding 98% of the time -- and trying to cover up his record 100% of the time.  [http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?parm1=53]

Cornyn is living proof that the only thing worse than a hyperpartisan Senator is a hypocritical hyperpartisan Senator who blames everyone else for being too partisan when in fact, he's the most partisan elephant in the room.  Instead of leaving milk and cookies for this Bad Santa, this year leave him a mirror.
