The Twelve Days of Cornyn: Seven Undetected WMDs
On the Seventh Day of Christmas John Cornyn Gave to Me...
Seven Undetected WMD's
The Christmas season more often than not brings out the good in people. Unfortunately, not everyone has good intentions. That is why increased law enforcement on our border, as well as updated technology and tightened procedures at Texas ports, airports and railroad shipping points, is badly needed to ensure the safety of Texans in the post 9/11 era. And when Texans turned to John Cornyn with their Christmas wish list for border and port security, Cornyn seized the opportunity to stage a media gimmick and said that in the post 9/11 world he made "no apology" for being "tough" on border security. [Rio Grande Guardian, 10/18/06]
But not surprisingly, Cornyn says one thing in Texas and does another in Washington. In the Senate, John Cornyn voted against legislation implementing recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission, which would've strengthened our border with international collaboration on border and document security. The bill also tightened airline, port and rail security with more thorough cargo and baggage screening. Who needs enemies, when Texans have friends like John Cornyn? [Roll Call vote #73, 3/13/07]
