Thoughts and observations on the daily effort to change the path of our State & Nation, one person at a time.

In an address to the Texas Association of Broadcasters, Rick Norriega again addressed the issue of what he characterizes as Cornyn’s “blank check” and “rubber stamp” endorsement of Bush policies.

James Shannon, writing for The Examiner Online provided details on a bill of particulars from the Noriega campaign which illustrate a few of Noriega's profound differences with Cornyn:

Cornyn wrong for Texas, wrong for the USA

Rick Noriega, soon to be the first Hispanic US Senator ever elected from Texas, issued a powerful call for financial responsibility yesterday.

With tens of billions in oil profits each year, and deposits earning hundreds of millions each year from the US Treasury, Rick says it is time for the American taxpayer to be relieved of this burden.

I have started a series of articles taking a close look at the U.S. economy. Today's article examines the public debt of the United States, how much we owe, who chareged the debt to our account, and what it means to you, me, our kids,... each citizen of our country.

If numbers absolutely bore you, this may not be one you want to read. I do think the data is important. I think we each need to know the facts, and have them available to counter the misrepresentations and misdirections distributed by the McCain campaign.

Taking a look at the numbers

This Saturday, May 31, at noon, our SD10 delegation will meet in the Fort Worth Stockyards, the Bluebonnet Room, 2511 Rodeo Plaza, for a preconvention caucus. Among the agenda items will be a chance for candidates for National Delegate to speak to the delegation, for three minutes each.

I am one of those candidates, and I do plan to speak. I will try to make my own three minutes informative and to avoid putting any of you to sleep if at all possible. Still, three minutes is not much time to evaluate someone and weigh them against a series of other speakers, all of whom are enthusiastic for Obama and the American Way.

How does one select a candidate for this position? What is important? What is extraneous? And why should you even be concerned? You will each make your own decisions on these questions, but if you will allow me a minute or two, I would like to offer a few ideas for consideration, and would like to present my own rationale for candidacy.
