Dear Senator Cornyn,
We, the undersigned Texas voters, object to your recent votes against the State Children's Health Insurance Program and urge you to support the bipartisan SCHIP bill by voting to override President Bush's veto. SCHIP is one of the most successful state-federal partnerships ever signed into law, and an important step toward addressing the growing crisis in children's health care.
Currently, one in five Texas children is now without health insurance. That's appalling and immoral, and it affects all Texans. When parents can't afford their child's doctor visit, every Texan pays the price in the form of higher premiums and hospital bills. For the health of Texas kids, and the economic health of all Texas taxpayers, we urge you to support this bill.
Senator Cornyn, the health of our children should be your highest priority and should never take a back seat to partisan politics. We urge you to do the right thing and join Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and vote to override President Bush's cruel veto of bipartisan CHIP funding. After your two votes against CHIP, you already have two strikes with Texas voters-three strikes and we'll put you out of office.
