This morning, Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa and Executive Director Will Hailer announced that Emmanuel Garcia is stepping down as the Communications Director. Garcia will be joining the Leticia Van de Putte for Mayor of San Antonio Campaign as a Senior Strategist.
The Texas Democratic Party is promoting Rachel Boyer to Press Secretary on the communications team.
Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa released the following statement:
“On behalf of Texas Democrats, I want to thank Emmanuel Garcia for his commitment and service to our party and a stronger Texas.
“Under Manny’s direction, the Texas Democratic Party launched one of the most aggressive communications efforts of any state party in the country. Our team set out to hold Republicans accountable and tell the story of a new state Democratic party, a party being rebuilt and reinvigorated. We advised statewide campaigns, prepared candidates for editorial boards and debate, and became an integral piece of their operation.
“We look forward to hearing much more from Manny and wish him the best.”

Will Hailer released the following statement:
“We are excited to promote Rachel Boyer to the position of press secretary. Our communications team is aggressively reaching out to everyday Texans and Rachel’s passion to share the message that Democratic values are Texas values is exactly what we need.”
Rachel Boyer joined the Texas Democratic Party communications team during the last election cycle as the African American media coordinator and regional press secretary. Prior to joining the party, Rachel worked for U.S. Congressman Keith Ellison (D-MN) as the press assistant in his Washington, D.C. office.
