Austin, TX– Today, the Texas Democratic Party extends congratulations to our Project LIFT (Local Investment in the Future of Texas) candidate Pretta VanDible Stallworth.
Project LIFT works with local party leaders and progressive partners to recruit, train, and support candidates – with a special focus on winning local, non-partisan races.
Congratulations to our winning candidate:
Pretta VanDible Stallworth, HCCS District IX
Pretta is an educator with a PhD in Christian Education, and is approaching her 35th year as an adjunct professor. She is a PMP with a Bachelor and Master in Chemical Engineering from Rice University, and has an MBA as well. She is a community advocate, and former Boy Scouts of America Merit Badge Counselor and Friends of Scouting Chair. She is a hard worker, committed to her community, and resolute when facts need to be presented. She has nearly 40 years of experience volunteering in public school education.
Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:
“Project LIFT is about investing in local down-ballot races so that folks with Texan values have the privilege of representing their communities in elected office.
“We’re so proud of Pretta’s victory last night. We are grateful that she stepped up to serve her community and provide the leadership to improve the Houston Community College school system.
“Across the country, and in Texas, we are witnessing the beginnings of a blue wave. Texas Democrats are working hard to bring real progressive solutions to our local communities and we’re winning.”
