Texas Democratic Party Announces New Staff Hires

Texas Democrats Ramping Up for 2020

Austin, TX — Today, the Texas Democratic Party announced new outstanding additions to our growing team: Candidate Services Director Tyler Mitchell, Office Manager Rachael Steyaert, and Training Program Manager Nate Levin.

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“Texas is the biggest battleground state. Our mission is clear: we must elect more Texas Democrats up and down the ballot to deliver solutions for everyday Texans and their families. We are fighting harder than ever before.

“With Tyler, Rachael, and Nate, we will take back our state. We’re thrilled to have them. Every single day, the Texas Democratic Party is providing the resources, tools, data, and guidance our elected officials, candidates, county parties, and activists need to win. Together, we will deliver the representation Texans deserve.”

Tyler Mitchell, Candidate Services Director

Tyler is a professional campaign operative who most recently managed Representative Talarico’s campaign in Round Rock. Tyler spent the ‘16 cycle working for Hillary Clinton as a Regional Organizing Director, then managed a Virginia House of Delegates race in 2017, before packing up and coming to Texas. He’s excited to work with the Texas Democratic Party to support our nominees in running excellent, innovative, grassroots campaigns.

Rachael Steyart, Office Manager

Adopted as an Austinite 19 years ago, Rachael has served on the board for several Austin-based education non-profit organizations with special focus on fundraising, literacy, and community outreach programs in Title I schools. An active supporter of local Democratic elections, she worked as a precinct volunteer to boost voter turnout above 71% in her southwest Austin precinct, outpacing turnout across Travis County. Rachael also currently serves on the board of Circle C Area Democrats.

Nate Levin, Training Program Manager

Nate moved to Austin via Maine, where he previously worked as the Director of Customer Success at Fusemachines and as Lead Grassroots Organizer at the Maine Democratic Party. Passionate about education, Nate moonlights as a substitute teacher. A native of Massachusetts, and a graduate of Bates College, Nate is passionate about the outdoors, sports, and getting Democrats elected.
