Austin, TX– Today, the Texas Democratic Party extends congratulations to our Project LIFT (Local Investment in the Future of Texas) candidates.
Project LIFT works with local party leaders and progressive partners to recruit, train, and support candidates – with a special focus on winning local, non-partisan races.
Congratulations to winning candidates:

Jim McDonald, Pflugerville City Council Place 6
Jim McDonald has a track record of service, commitment, and leadership. He has earned positions on multiple City Boards and Commissions. His goal at this time is to take that next step and become a part of the leadership team that guides his community toward the future, creating a Pflugerville where: Quality of life – economically and culturally – remains high; Every citizen has the opportunity participate in governance; and Neighbors know and look out for neighbors.
Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:
“Last night, across the country and in Texas, we saw the beginnings of a blue wave. We’re not just talking about big Democratic gubernatorial victories in Virginia and New Jersey, but also local down-ballot races where dozens of progressives won the privilege to represent their communities in elected office.
“We are so proud of Anne Sung and Jim McDonald for stepping up to serve and for running campaigns based on Democratic values. Texas Democrats are working hard to bring real progressive solutions to our local communities and we’re winning.”
