Hillary Clinton lays out economic plan including investment in Texas families

Austin, TX -- Today, Secretary Clinton spoke about her commitment to fight for working families and build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top. She took on Republican rival Donald Trump for his tax giveaways for the wealthiest 1 percent.

Clinton’s economic plan included, “investing $275 billion on the biggest infrastructure plan since World War II, making public colleges and universities tuition free for in-state middle-class families, rewriting the corporate tax code to penalize companies that move jobs overseas and giving tax incentives to companies that share profits with employees.” [New York Times, August 11, 2016]

Texas Democratic Party Executive Director Crystal K. Perkins issued the following statement:

“Secretary Clinton’s plan to create good-paying jobs stands in stark contrast to Donald Trump’s plan which include tax giveaways for the wealthiest 1 percent and rolls back key protections for working families.

“Simply put, Trump only cares about Trump. The loopholes in his economic plan are just a backdoor tax giveaway for himself and his billionaire friends. Meanwhile, Hillary’s plan would create more than 10 million new jobs across the country and 900,000 jobs in Texas alone.

“Clinton’s plan would grow jobs in Texas by making the boldest investments in infrastructure since WWII, investing in Texas’s manufacturing, and cutting taxes and reducing red tape for Texas’s small businesses.

“The choice for working families could not be more clear. If you want more money in your pocket and a better future for your kids, vote for Hillary Clinton. She is the fighter our families need to get ahead.”
