Austin, TX -- In case you missed it, KENS5 reported, “[p]rotesters gathered in San Antonio on Tuesday for a Tax Day protest, urging President Trump to release his taxes to the public.” [KENS5, April 18, 2017]
Yesterday was Tax Day, millions of Americans paid their taxes, and yet President Trump has refused to come clean and release his own tax returns.
Congress has the power to demand that the Treasury release Trump’s taxes but increasingly vulnerable Republicans like Will Hurd (TX23), have voted to give Trump a pass.
Texas Democratic Party Deputy Executive Director Manny Garcia issued the following statement:
“Republican Will Hurd shouldn’t expect Texans to look the other way while he gives Trump a free pass on undisclosed foreign entanglements. No matter what Hurd’s political hacks say, he’s on record protecting Donald Trump’s secrecy. The fact is Will Hurd votes with Trump 100% of the time, and Texans are tired of Hurd saying one thing and doing another.”
