AAPI Organizer

The Texas Democratic Party is currently hiring an AAPI Organizer, who will initiate, develop and leverage relationships within the broader AAPI community in order to directly support voter contact programs with a high concentration of targeted AAPI voters. Exceptional candidates have previous experience in campaign or union field organizing.

The AAPI Organizer must be a self-starter, team builder, and must care deeply about the future success of progressive politics in Texas. The AAPI Organizer will receive a substantial amount of direction from TDP Headquarters.

The turf of the AAPI Organizer will include Harris and Fort Bend Counties, prioritizing Congressional Districts 22 and 7. The position is a cycle-only position.

Essential Duties:

  • Serve as Ambassador of the Texas Democratic Party on the ground, developing relationships with County Parties, campaigns, and local Democratic organizations
  • Identify, recruit, train, and organize leaders within the various AAPI communities in turf
  • Onboard, train, and manage placement of volunteers into campaigns and county organizations
  • In coordination with local Parties and campaigns, facilitate trainings of local volunteers and activists
  • Assist with organizing and advancing State Party & Statewide Slate events within covered turf
  • Additional duties as assigned by Texas Democratic Party staff

  • Two campaign cycles with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership (one cycle being at a Field Director level or higher) and experience in managing a GOTV program; two cycles experience with VAN

  • Experience working in diverse communities
  • Experience working with community leaders
  • Experience in digital organizing

Social Media Strategist

The Texas Democratic Party is seeking a Digital Strategist with experience writing for social media and growing an audience to join our digital team in Austin, Texas. We’re looking for a writer who is passionate about fighting Trump Republicans in Texas and working on the ground to build Texas Democratic Party infrastructure.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead social media engagement strategy
  • Develop and maintain online relationships with voters, key influencers, reporters and bloggers
  • Engage supporters online by writing, editing, designing, and curating content
  • Define guidelines for best practices and engagement benchmarks; monitor and provide feedback on an ongoing basis
  • Monitor social media and news outlets for breaking news and opportunities

Preference given for experience with:

  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms and a sense of excitement for new innovations in digital communication, mobilization, and organizing
  • One cycle or one session in the Texas Legislature
  • Adobe Creative Suite
  • SMS texting campaigns
  • Comfortable working under deadline pressure
  • A willingness to work long hours as needed

Digital Internship

The Texas Democratic Party seeks passionate and political minded leaders for our digital internship program in Austin.

Our digital interns will gain experience in writing, design, political campaigns, Democratic politics, and organizing. We offer a flexible schedule and college credit for interns whenever possible. No political experience is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage supporters online by writing, editing, designing, and curating content
  • Work with state party chair, staff and Democratic leaders to achieve our online goals
  • Monitor social media and news outlets for breaking news and messaging opportunities
  • Write and edit content for all of our platforms
  • Help our down-ballot candidates build strong digital programs

Qualifications:

  • Passion for making our country better and working with members of the broad coalition of people that make up the Democratic Party.
  • Enthusiasm for digital engagement, including online organizing, social media, email, graphic design, and digital analytics.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and finish tasks on deadline.
  • Comfortable working with high-level Democratic officials, candidates, staff, and donors.

Data Internship

Data interns will work with the Data Team to procure election and polling place data, oversee TDP’s voter engagement tools, assist in maintaining the state’s voter data, and other various projects. Training Internship

The Texas Democratic Party is seeking Training interns. Interns will get hands on experiences working at TDP’s statewide headquarters located in Austin. This is not just another paper-pushing internship – you will play a role in our statewide training campaign to build the capacity of candidates, volunteers, activists and local party members.

We are looking for interns with the following skills and experience:

  • Copy editing documents and publications;
  • Google Drive, Google Slides in particular;
  • The ability to pull together quality presentations and information on a tight timeline;
  • Strong researching skills, including the ability to succinctly summarize research findings;
  • Strong public speaker; and
  • Understands political campaigns (experience with political campaigns preferred).

Finance Internship

The Texas Democratic Party is seeking Finance Interns. Candidates should be college students or recent graduates who are looking to gain political fundraising experience. This internship is the perfect preparation for joining a top campaign’s finance operation, issue organization, or state party.Interns will work in a fast-paced environment and duties will include assisting staff with donor research, creating call sheets, fundraising calls, database management, and event planning/staffing.
